Review of Soulless by Gail Carriger

I loooved this witty, romantic, action-packed steampunk novel--the first in a series--from Gail Carriger.

Gail Carriger's Parasol Protectorate series takes place in Victorian London, and the immensely appealing, practical, fearless character of Alexia Tarabotti navigates danger and helps achieve justice by using her smarts, eschewing societal tradition and traditional limits on women, and sometimes inconveniently needing to demonstrate her ability to neutralize the supernatural abilities of werewolves, vampires, and other creatures.

In Soulless, the gruff Lord Maccon is a mesmerizing werewolf who is aware of Alexia's lack of a soul. They drive each other batty and couldn't be a more unlikely pair--or will opposites attract?

Professor Lyall is one of my favorite characters, as is Lord Akeldama, a fantastic, over-the-top, preternaturally calm yet gossipy and matchless character.

There are puns, innuendos, and there's wonderful banter, romance, sexy supernatural relations, and lots of action here. Plus the bloody Queen of ENGLAND. I loooved this witty, romantic, action-packed steampunk novel from Gail Carriger.

What did you think?

Carriger has written five Parasol Protectorate series books and a short prequel, so if you're up for this one, you've got books and books ready to binge read. This book was part of the Greedy Reading List Three Offbeat Series I Just Started and Love.
